C.P. Vietnam Corporation is facing a police investigation after the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the completion of documentation related to suspected dead pig diversion and slaughtering process violations. The issue originated from social media reports and images in 2022 concerning dead pigs being funneled into C.P. food stores at the Dung Nga slaughterhouse in Hau Giang. Although the facility initially proposed heat treatment for use as fish feed, the Deputy Minister affirmed this was inappropriate, especially given the African Swine Fever outbreak at the time, and demanded accountability. Furthermore, the use of a square stamp on pigs with skin inflammation, which permits market release, was also deemed a violation of regulations. A related store in Soc Trang has also been closed and its products sealed.
