On February 17, 2025, the People's Court of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City opened the first-instance trial for a compensation dispute between an individual and Baker & McKenzie Law Firm. The individual claimed that the law firm had violated the law by sending a representative to participate in the trial to protect the interests of the defendant in a labor dispute case, while the foreign-invested law firm was permitted only to provide legal advice and not to send lawyers to participate in litigation.
