Reference exchange rate turns around to rise on May 24


 The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for May 24 at 22,589 VND/USD, up 5 VND from the previous day. 
With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,266 VND/USD and the floor rate 21,922 VND/USD. 

The opening hour rates at major commercial banks either stayed stable or rose slightly. 

BIDV maintained both rates unchanged from May 23, listing the buying rate at 22,740 VN/USD and the selling rate at 22,810 VND/USD. 

Meanwhile, Vietcombank and Techcombank raised their rates by 5 VND. 

The greenback is being bought at 22,740 VND/USD and sold at 22,810 VND/USD at Vietcombank. 

The rates listed by Techcombank were 22,720 VND/USD (buying) and 22,820 VND/USD (selling). 

The trend for the reference exchange rate was mix this week (May 21-25) when the rate opened the week flat, but was revised up on Tuesday, down on Wednesday and up again today.

The rates listed at commercial bank also fluctuated variably, up on Monday, down the next two days and up today depending on banks.-
