StoxPlus - 10 Year Journey of Enlightening the Market

StoxPlus warmly held a ceremony to celebrate its 10th Anniversary at Pan Pacific Hotel in Hanoi on March 14, 2018.

It was our great honour and privilege to welcome Mr. Truong Van Phuoc - Acting Chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Commission of Vietnam; Mr. Tran Van Dzung - Chairman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam, Mr. Vu Bang - Former Chairman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam, Member of the Prime Minister's advisory group; Mr. Yoichi Noor Iwamoto - Managing Director of Nikkei China (Hong Kong) LTD, Mr. Hidekazu Imai, Managing director and Regional CEO, Nikkei Group Asia LTE, Ltd and over 100 distinguished guests representing institutional investors, partners and customers of StoxPlus for the past 10 years.

With a strong wish to provide reliable and in-depth financial and securities data for Vietnam market, on March 11, 2008, StoxPlus was established aiming to provide comprehensive financial database services and to become the most independent and trusted source of information for Vietnam.

Opening the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Chairman & CEO of StoxPlus expressed his sincere gratitude to the customers, shareholders and partners including the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC), The Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE), the Hanoi Stock Exchange, Agency of Business Registration - Ministry of Planning and Investment, The National Credit Information Centre of Vietnam of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), and Foreign Trade University for their support and cooperation and desire to continue partnership with them in the future. Mr. Thuan also shared the story of why he left the job as a fund manager to start up  StoxPlus in 2008 when the stock market was at its historical peak and how StoxPlus applies data analysis technology to meet the market demand and sustain its leading position in Vietnam in financial information service sector. Based on its strong ground of being the most trusted source of financial and business information in Vietnam and with the mission of enlightening the market, in 2018, StoxPlus focuses on continuously developing financial platforms and information to better meet increasing demands of customers and the market.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Van Dzung, Chairman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) congratulated and recognized the contributions of StoxPlus to the development of the capital market in general and the stock market in particular for the last 10 years. After signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SSC in June 2016, StoxPlus has been supporting the SSC in a number of technical activities such as financial analysis training workshop for SSC’s specialists; improving the quality of information disclosure of public companies on the securities market under Circular 155/2015/TT-BTC especially in English; standardizing and processing data for listed and unlisted public companies; assisting the preparation of SSC Annual Report and other activities to improve information transparency in Vietnam.

Furthermore, at the event, many representatives of Government agencies, partners and clients showed their trust and support for StoxPlus’s business model and its orientation, which are relevant with trends of financial – business information market. Mr. Mac Quang Huy, CEO of KB Securities Vietnam, representing StoxPlus’ clients to give a speech at the event. “Any country needs a local business like StoxPlus in addition to the giant players like Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. Among very few local vendors in financial and business information and data service sector, StoxPlus stands out as the most capable and professional company. They have local insights and global experience as well as support from Japanese partners. We highly appreciate their in-depth of the local data and innovation that they have made over time. In addition to this milestone of StoxPlus, this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Japan and Vietnam. The enhancement of cooperation between the two countries can play as a golden opportunity to foster the growth of StoxPlus – said Mr. Yoichi Noor Iwamoto.

Having basic and advanced data in capital market, data of unlisted companies and comprehensive market/trading data of more than 3,000 public companies including: industry data, macro data, and M&A data as well as succeeding in research automation, which helps minimize the amount of time spent on processing and analysing data for company reports, especially for non-public company reports from few days to 4 hours per report, StoxPlus always strives to improve the data standardization process, enhances transparency in financial market and promotes foreign investment and trade flows in Vietnam.

Closing the event, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, Vice Chairman of StoxPlus said: throughout 10-year journey of business with many difficulties and challenges, StoxPlus has achieved a number of remarkable accomplishments. StoxPlus now serves over 200 of subscription customers and thousands of report orders per year. From the very first days of business in Hanoi with a couple of employees, StoxPlus has expanded its business network by opening a branch in Ho Chi Minh City and now has nearly 100 employees.
